like dirty wet toads peering though basement windows.
and pretty yellow weeds in neighbor’s lawns.
then cotton clouds turn gray.
so many marvelous muted colors.
even on a rainy evening.
flooded neighborhood.
downpouring of emotions.
petals from cherry tree blossoms fall.
then i slip in the mud.
my son puts out his tiny hand to help me up.
i laugh at myself.
then he and i dance and play in the rain.
